In Camp Denali's earliest days, staff was composed of hikers who happened by and enjoyed themselves so much they stayed. Ginny and Celia (the original owners of the lodge) would split the meager profits at the end of the season, in thanks. The lodges have come a long way since those days.
Staff are provided an hourly wage and receive overtime compensation for hours worked beyond eight/day or forty/week. To learn more about the paycheck, visit the "Jobs" page here.
In addition to standard pay, our staff receive a share of pooled tips, divided equally by hours worked each month; these tips typically average at least $500/month/person.
Transportation to Alaska is the responsibility of employees, but those who complete their full contracted season of employment with us will receive a travel stipend to help defray the cost.
Uniforms are required for all positions, and a uniform stipend is provided each year ($150 for new staff, $125 for returning staff) to get you outfitted for the summer season.
